6 Month Check-Up

Sam had his 6 month checkup this morning, and I think we may have a future basketball player. He is in the 56% for weight, and 85% for height! Jay thinks he has the Harwell height. I think that now Sam may be almost half as tall as my mom & little sister :)

Working our way to the blogoshpere...

After viewing several blospots, well, I just had to have one. Sam is now 6 months old and I've not yet even sent our birth announcements or had professional photos taken! Bad mommy! To summarize the last 6 months....Samuel Thomas Walsh was born on February 25, 2008, weighing 6 lbs 9 oz, and 19 inches long. He was named after his Papa, whose middle name is also Thomas. I stayed home for 3 months (as the good old FMLA Act allows) and went back to work near the end of May. My sweet hubby took off from work the first 2 weeks Sam was born. When other parents warn you to "get your sleep now" before the baby comes, I've found they are offering very sound advise. I think Jay & I must of walked into walls several times those first couple weeks.

While home on maternity leave, Sam & I had lots of visits from Aunt Amanda (and Jill) who graciously always knocked on the door with a Sonic grilled cheese or sweets in hand. And Aunt Jen, who lives alllll the way in Frisco, came down to help with Sam for her entire Spring Break (she's a teacher). Sam was a pretty challenging little man at first, but after he finally agreed that he wasn't too cool to nap, and we got into some sort of routine, and put Sam on Prevacid, life became a little easier. Aunt Sarah would also come over on Thursdays to help out...which was always a bonus because she'd cook! (YUM). When it was time to head back to the working world, my stomach did flip-flops! I remember scheduling meetings back to back to keep my mind off not being an arm's reach from Sam. I still miss him while at the office, but a sweet, wonderful lady named Wendy cares for him while Jay & I are at work. It works out perfect.

Sam is rolling over, giggling and trying his best to get his crawl on! He's doing the bounce & scoot move for now. He loves Lily, our 5-year-old lab, and has recently discovered her ears are pretty cool toys.

Sam has been on solids for about a month, and has decided he will eat almost anything. Carrots, applesauce, green beans, pears... He also will almost take your entire finger off if you put a dab of chocolate milk on your fingertip. Just like mommy!

Sam at about 2.5 months...cutie pie.

Okay, one of the first things I want to share is a hilarious video clip I took the other night of Sam & Jay. Sam is laughing and squaking at Daddy. Sam just "found" his voice, so little man is making all kinds of funny noises....

Here's Sam & Lily. Lily's head looks huge in this picture. (No fat comments Uncle & Aunt J!)

Here's one of Sam's playstations....where he can choose to play little songs, shake rattles, and spin things and pull things...all in one place...life is good.

On June 29th, we had sweet Sam baptized at April Sound Church by the Pastor who married us. A couple pics...

My last picture for my very first post on my very first blog. Sam's been sleeping through the night since about 6 weeks old. Good baby! We usually put him down around 8:15pm, and he'll wake up around 7:45/8:00am. 99% of the time he wakes up in all smiles, playing with his toes. I usually leave for work around 7:30am, so I'm lucky to love on him before I leave. This was a couple Fridays ago before work when he decided to rise with the roosters...
